Exploring Scholarship


SCHOLARSHIPS

Primary Awards - The typical yearly scholarship award is $250 each per Explorer/Cadet. These awards can be applied to any of the following educational endeavors:

- Tuition for any fire technology course at a California community college.
- Tuition for any Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of California.
- Tuition for any Fire Explorer Academy based in the state of California.

Secondary Awards - These additional awards will vary each year by vendor and amount. Typical Secondary Awards include- new flashlights, training course coupons and fire career job service subscriptions.

TO BE ELIGIBLE:

This program is open to ALL current Fire Explorers and Cadets in the State of California with at least six months of service in their respective posts. This includes LAFD's Cadet and Huntington Beach and Long Beach Search & Rescue programs.

YEARLY SCHOLARSHIP SUBMISSION AND AWARD TIME LINE

- December - Statewide notifications made to California fire departments.

- January - Open period to submit application packets starting January 1st with a deadline of January 31st. The official application and submission details are posted on this website.

- February - Judging by Review Panel on the first Saturday of the month and awards being issued by February 28th.
